Dr.
Horvitz was Executive Director from 1976 to 1997 and Founder of NEXUS/Foundation
For Today's Art. Horvitz, a painter, has her BFA and MA from University of the Arts . She
holds a Doctorate in College Teaching of the Fine Arts from Columbia University, NYC. She
has received Fellowship Grants through Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, PA Council on the
Arts and a Masterworks Fellowship, Center For Creative Glass. She had a one person
exhibition at the Gulbenkian Museum, Portugal. She has had one person exhibitions and is
in the permanent collections of the Fyns Kunstmuseum, Denmark, Utah Museum, Museum of
Greater Victoria, and Musee D'Art Contemporain in France. Her work is in the permanent
collection of the Corning Museum, Museum of American Glass, and Glasmuseum, Denmark. |

| In 1995 she was Cultural
Advisor to the US Embassy in Burma . In 1996 she was Cultural Advisor to the US Embassy in
Buenos Aires, Argentina, through the USIA Arts America Program. She gave workshops to,
artists-at Escuela Superior de Arte -and lectured at the opening of an exhibition she
curated for the "Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes". In 1996 she was sent through
the USIA Arts America Program to work to Guayquil, and Quito, Ecuador. She lectured and
gave workshops to Ecuadorian artists and attended the opening of the exhibition she
curated of American art . In 1997 she was sent by the USIA to the US Embassy in Damascus,
Syria. In Syria she lectured at the Said Gallery as well as at Damascus University and
lectured to both the Syrian Minister of Culture and the American Ambassador about the
American art exhibition that she curated for the Asad National Library. In 1998 Dr.
Horvitz was sent by USIA to Cairo Egypt to open an exhibition she curated, to lecture
about her artwork and to give workshops for Egyptian artists. She is a member of the
Mayor's Arts Camp; Culture Advisory Council, Philadelphia. |
