| Many of you have asked about my background and approach to my work. Although educated in an unrelated field (BA Sociology, University of Pennsylvania), studio machine knitting has become my primary field of interest and vocation. I derive a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure from working with my hands and producing unique garments from cones of the finest yarns available and abstract design concepts. Yarns utilized include wool, cotton, rayon, rayon chenille, and occasionally metallic. Often, different types of yarns are used in order to provide a pleasing and durable blend of textures and fibers. Finishing touches typically include collectable Victorian glass or Bakelite buttons or handmade crocheted buttons. Designs and color choices are influenced by my travels abroad, especially the Far East. Patterns continually evolve and reflect my ongoing interest in art and nature. My designs are refined on a computer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
