Pen and ink, watercolor, airbrush, pastel dust, stipple, ink wash, colored pencil, and mixed media are some of the many media in which I have worked. These techniques have been applied to projects in the fields of entomology, botany, anatomy (drawing from cadavers), histology (including use of the compound microscope), and other artistic areas as well.

I am fully aware of the precise observation required for this type of work: to give clarity to detail and form. It is also enjoyable to apply these elements to other forms of art. My hope is to further explore the use of found objects, realism in art, shadow boxes with moving parts and detail-perfect, hand-drawn artworks. I believe that my artistic style, way of seeing, and curiosity are best suited to many art forms and will satisfy my creative needs. Perseverance, precision, discipline, and an eye for perfection have been necessary for successful results. Consequently, I have developed a critical eye for both my work and that of others.

I find a particular fascination with the idea of combining aesthetic concerns with scientific fact. I think a marriage of the two is possible but much overlooked. I hope I can take my artwork one step further by integrating creative concepts. Therein lies the challenge (creativity within limits).
